Visions of the Future

Today I finished reading Alistair Reynold’s Blue Remembered Earth.

One of the things I love about science fiction and epitomized by this book  are the author’s prognostications of the future.

Packed into the book are  descriptions of a future where technology is deeply embedded into both the individual and society as a whole. The ideas in this book are interesting, even if some are entirely fictional. The book touches on a myriad of concepts including climate change, capitalism, body modification and robotic ethics as the plot and narrative move forward.

Reynold’s has a PhD in astrology and worked as an astrophysicist, which is to say he knows his content.

I enjoyed the novel and will no doubt read some of his other works.
